do good within bslc“Love one another with mutual affection. Outdo one another in showing honor” Romans 12:10
We are to literally outdo each other in showing love. No half-hearted love for us. No casual respect. That’s because God considers us family to each other, under the head of Christ. In 1 Cor: 12:12-14, Paul says we are united by the Holy Spirit into one family. He says our mutual love is not dependent on social, ethnic, or familial bonds, or for that matter, similar interests or personalities or sense of humor. Our love is founded on God’s love and his call to give of ourselves for the good of each other. That can take the form of cooking or buying meals for those in a position unable to cook for themselves. It may be using your gifts of organization to organize an event, or staying by the bedside of someone who is ill. It may take the form of being a small group leader or spiritual mentor. |

IMMEDIATE NEEDS
Here are few ways you can give to God from what He has given you. If interested in any of these ways to serve, please contact Kathy.
- Office volunteer – We could use one or two more people to welcome and answer phones when Kathy is out of the office. There are times she is in meetings or taking vacation and we appreciate a person to be present (alarm is taken care of and there are instructions for the few things needed). Help is needed, especially when Shirley is gone, like she is until March. This could be a one-time help or a regularly scheduled time.
- Chalkboard designer – The chalkboard by the stairs looks good when monthly given a new design. It is very easy to do by using an overhead projector with a stencil and chalk. It’s just following lines. Mary Roosa would do this on Fridays and now we could use a new “artist” (who doesn’t need to be an artist). If Fridays don’t work for you, we can find another time that works.
- Minutes Taker - If being more literal is your style, then the Sending Committee has a need for someone to take minutes at their monthly meeting (2nd Wed at 9:30am). You can either come to the meeting and take notes or you can listen to a voice recording, whichever is easiest, and then email your minutes to the chairperson.
