Here are some places Jesus has led us to be engaged. Maybe as you follow Him, we will discover more. |
do good locallyOur community is full of brokenness and need. We believe that our place is to be in the middle of such need. We are suited for that because all of us are in need too. Need or poverty isn't limited to others or limited to material things. We have poverty in our relationship with God, with others, in our families, in our society, in ourselves, and with the world around us.
We also believe that there are few situations where individuals, families, groups, and cultures don't have assets and strengths. We choose to focus on those strengths rather than on need or weakness. With this understanding we don't come with answers but with a desire to work together and share our strengths. Our approach isn't to love from the sidelines in simple short term events or seasons. We choose to invest long term where we are vulnerable and learning. We believe this is the path to true transformation - and that is what we live for. |
Foster Parents Night Out
Though this monthly event is held at BSLC, it is an evening for Foster Parents in the community to have a few hours to themselves. We lovingly take all of their kids, feed them, play with them, give them opportunities to expel energy in active and creative ways and let them know that they are greatly valued. We follow DHS guidelines and provide a safe place for these kids to be...well, kids. If you would like to volunteer for this monthly evening, please contact the office.
Pregnancy Resource Centers
We support PRC through an annual donation drive and by participating in the Steps for Life Walkathon. Click here to donate online. Opportunities to serve are abundant, especially since we have a center right here in Clackamas. If you have a heart for young parents and being a friend to those in crisis, then sign up to Volunteer.
Clothing Boutique
We provide recycled clothing for all ages, including clothes appropriate for jobs, interviews or school. Appointments for Wednesday from noon-3:30p.m. are required and can be made by calling the church office at 503-788-7000. Foster parents can come any time during office hours to get clothes for a child who is given to their care in an emergency. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:00p.m.
Every week donations are dropped off and sorted on Thursday, the Boutique is manned from 12:00-4:00pm. Anyone can help with the sorting or manning the Boutique. Click here if you are interested.
