Words that guide our website: Authentic, Simple (white space!), people-centered, consistent, contemporary
Standard Layouts:
We want consistency so that you don’t have to reorient yourself every time you look at a page. The layout consistently guides where to look and how to navigate, so the viewers can just focus on absorbing the content.
--Event Page
--Text Page
--Ministry page (includes Sunday series)
Exceptions: Staff page
What to do if you have a page that doesn’t fit the standard format: Before deviating from it, talk to Tom. This helps us stay standardized and helps us evolve where we’ve missed what we need in that standard.
http://www.imagodeicommunity.com/ and www.citybiblechurch.org.
Images:
Standard clickable format for any buttons (No logos besides BSLC at upper left of header).
Here are some ways to standardize the look of our images, but an overall aesthetic is ultimately pretty hard to nail down to bullet points. So at least for now, to build consistency in that aesthetic, we are going to have one person that is the keeper of our essence that we grant authority to tweak images across the site to match it. Tom will be the keeper of our essence.
--No word art or clip art
--No backgrounds on whole pages
--No gradients, bevels, shadows, glowiness, etc.
--No stock photography of people or things that don't directly portray BSLC.
--Very limited images outside of the images accounted for in our standard layout. (any?)
--Standard image size: ____
--Know the purpose of every image. Rather than images being space fillers, we want images to be used sparingly so viewers really zero in on the best ones. Images that don’t quite match what we hope to communicate are worse than no images, because images convey so much emotion that the wrong image can counteract everything you write in the text.
--Acceptable variants for logo and coasters: In file. Kathy, can you help me with this?
Text:
--Never deviate from the default fonts, colors, and styles set in Weebly.
If you want to give added emphasis beyond that, approved options are bold or italic.
To make a URL for a Hidden page:
All our pages have the site path after the .com, so if you had a page named example 1 the url would be bslc.com/example-1.html
