follow-through...
Athletes of all kinds are coached on the importance of follow-through. Golfers, for example, work on their follow-through for obvious reasons: You can’t just stop your swing the moment the club makes contact with the ball, it simply doesn’t work that way. Try it and you’ll probably spend all day floundering miserably through sand traps and frustrated by water hazards. Rather, the way you finish the swing is just as important as the way you start it! And the same principle serves pitchers in baseball, runners in track, gymnasts, bowlers, etc. Good follow-through is critical to effective performance!

Something similar holds true for the spiritual athletes called “Christians” as well. God does not intend for His grace to stop once it hits our hearts, but Jesus coaches us to follow through with faith-filled attitudes and activities into every area of life. And spiritual follow-through is especially important in stress-filled times like these with all the potential traps and looming hazards. So, as we follow Jesus during the month of July, keeping the cross as our focus, we’re going to especially work on our follow-through!
