“Love one another with mutual affection. Outdo one another in showing honor” Romans 12:10
We are to literally outdo each other in showing love. No half-hearted love for us. No casual respect. That’s because God considers us family to each other, under the head of Christ. In 1 Cor: 12:12-14, Paul says we are united by the Holy Spirit into one family. He says our mutual love is not dependent on social, ethnic, or familial bonds, or for that matter, similar interests, or personalities or sense of humor. Our love is founded on God’s love and his call to give of ourselves for the good of each other.
That can take the form of cooking or buying meals for those in a position unable to cook for themselves. It may be using your gifts of organization to organize an event, or staying by the bedside of someone who is ill. It may take the form of being a small group leader or spiritual mentor.
