Membership

Why?
Let us be the first to acknowledge that membership is not a requirement in the Bible.  But commitment is.  God is actually pretty big into commitment.  He is completely committed to us.  He asks spouses to be completely committed to each other, families too.  So it is not that crazy to think that He would desire commitment in His body, the Church.
Membership is just a nice fancy term for being a committed family.  It expresses a commitment to be family together not only when things are going well, but when things are tough.  To be a member of the family of BSLC is to promise to stand with this flawed and redeemed congregation through all things.
How?
When you sense God leading you to commit to our family there are a few steps to allow us to live well together as a family.
1. We believe the same thing. Not about everything but certainly the essentials. We teach both an Alpha class and a Believing class which provide opportunities to listen, question, remember and discover the truths that unite us in Christ. We are a church that believes and teaches
2. We have the same purpose. We state it in the words, “Living Christ’s love for our family, community, and world.” We teach another class called Life Stewardship which shares the basics of living out this purpose in our relationship with God, in relationship with other Christians, and in relationship with our world. We are each unique but we aim to move in the same direction.
3. We live these same beliefs and purpose. Our purpose is not to talk, think or teach about truths. We aim to live them. This is an ongoing, active word. We expect that all family members give life to our beliefs and purpose in our actions. There are four basic ongoing actions we expect of each member of our family.
I receive the love of Christ.
I share myself deeply with other Christians
I use my uniqueness to serve.
I invite others to join me.

Contact anyone on staff to see where to start. Classes are offered periodically. You don’t have to wait to jump in till you have a class. We welcome you to be committed to Christ with us.
